I was born in 1985 in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I currently study chemical engineering at university. My interest in astronomy dates back to my early childhood. When I was seven I started some intoductory courses on general astronomy. Later came courses on Astrophysics and Cosmology at the Planetarium. When I was 12 I got my first telescope, a 50 mmm refractor which I aimed to the Moon. Since then, my passion for the Moon has only grown...
When I was thirteen I joined the Red de Observadores del Uruguay; the contact with experienced observers provided me with tools to develope careful observation as well as precise timing.
At the same time as my interest on astronomy augmented, it was during childhood that my father lit my way into drawing, which would soon become one of the activities I enjoy the most. When I was thirteen, one summer night both hobbies combined and the result was my first drawing of the lunar surface.
In 1999 I upgraded to a 114 mm Newtonian; then, it was possible to do a more detailed observation so the interest in selenology seemed clear. The answers to many questions came from the reading of books and articles, and I finally joined GLR in 2000. This let me participate in dome search and classification and general interpretation of the surface features. In 2002 I joined the ALS where I found as well as in the GLR a group of active and generous observers.
Some of my portraits of well-known astronomers and lunar observations, together with guiding comments, are at my site "Luna en Dibujos" ("Moon in Drawings", in Spanish):
