During our observations, a dome-like feature near crater Weinek
was found. It also appears as a
dome in LO frame IV-72-H1, in which it shows a central craterlet.
On the other hand, in the high resolution image (F7 from the Consolidated Lunar
Atlas), the
suspect relief looks like a complex structure and does not resemble a dome.
Instead, this
elongated structure that resembles a ring-ghost crater, looks like hummocky
material, likely
associated with the higher reliefs to the SE, near Neander.
As in many cases (e.g. the hummocky structures near Clavius), in a single image
a relief may
look like a dome, but several images under different solar altitudes are necessary
to confirm the
feature´s nature.
In conclusion, we feel this is not a dome.
